IBA RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM Doctoral Research in Business & Management: Opportunities and challenges for PU students


IBA held its first research colloquium on December 14th, 2017 highlighting the “opportunities and challenges in Doctoral research in Business & Management” – for PU students. The colloquium was arranged to promote the research culture and disseminate the latest trends and streams in research to relevant audience. The objective of the research colloquium was to provide a space and create an environment for free exchange of ideas and initiate discussion on issues related to research in business and management within the academic community.

Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal Jadoon from University of Houston, Texas, USA former Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences and Director of the Institute of Administrative Sciences at the University of the Punjab was invited as the guest speaker. Mrs. Sajida Nisar- In-charge Director Institute of Business Administration (IBA), PU, faculty members Prof. Labiba Sheikh, Dr. Sania Zahra Malik, Prof. Zeshan Ahmer and staff members joined for the seminar.

Prof. Dr. Zafar explained to the audience how they should select a research topic reflective of the cultural settings of Pakistan. He advised the students to produce research that addresses the problems faced by the society. Information about latest research areas in management such as social constructivism, employee engagement, organizational complexity, flexibility etc. was also disseminated to the students. Students took keen interest in the talk and asked many relevant questions from the guest speaker related to their research work and asked for advice about the problems they have to face during their research journey.

The closing note was presented by Mrs. Sajida Nisar- In-charge Director IBA, with much gratitude for the guest speaker. She thanked Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal Jadoon for sharing his vast knowledge to the students and guiding them well in present context of research.

The seminar was followed by a lunch was arranged in the honor of Prof. Dr. Zafar. On behalf of IBA family, Mrs. Sajida Nisar- Incharge Director IBA expressed her gratitude to the worthy guest for taking out the time to conduct this research colloquium at IBA.
